GovXcellence Summit 2026

I was invited by Traicon Events to speak at the GovXcellence Summit Malaysia 2026, at Crowne Plaza Kuala Lumpur City Centre, on 11 June 2026. The session was titled Malaysia's Journey Toward AI-Enabled Governance - Strengthening Digital Public Infrastructure Through AI.
I spoke about why AI governance belongs to leadership rather than to IT — that it is a board-level fiduciary responsibility, not a technical matter to be delegated downward. I set out the governance stack in the order it has to be built: a framework for AI ethics and governance, national standards, workforce guidance, sector-specific guidelines, an accountability instrument, and the legislation now under way. I also talked about self-governance in practice, because the daily working discipline an organisation needs is the same one an individual needs, and policy on paper does not produce it. I closed with three questions I believe leadership teams should be asking routinely rather than once a year.
The room was roughly 347 senior public sector leaders from 147 organisations — secretaries-general, directors-general, chief information and digital officers, chief executives and mayors.
